Welcoming Back Our Spiritual Mentors!

After many months apart, Thrive for Life was beyond elated to welcome back our family of spiritual mentors this past month for a night of celebration, reflection, and community. Fr. Zach opened the evening with the celebration of Mass, during which the team offered intentions for all those affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, especially for those who fell ill behind the walls.

After Mass, the mentors and other friends of the Thrive for Life family adjourned to the patio of the St. Francis Xavier Jesuit Community and were treated to a wonderful barbecue, made possible thanks to the grilling acumen of Fr. Kevin Spinale. Everyone enjoyed a night of laughs, reconnection, and reflection on what we all had endured over the past year and what lies on the horizon for Thrive for Life and our work behind the walls. 

While the jails and prisons have not allowed for the full return of our spiritual mentors, Fr. Zach shared that he had been permitted to resume some spiritual retreats on his own, much to the delight of our friends on the inside. As the public health situation continues to develop, Fr. Zach and Thrive for Life hope to be able to send full cohorts of our spiritual mentors back as soon as possible so that we can serve as many folks as we can, especially during these exceptionally difficult times. 

In the  meantime, our mentors remain hard at work preparing for an eventual return to our full in-person ministry.
