Making Our Milwaukee House of Studies A Home!
Thrive For Life Prison Project is glad to share exciting updates on the launch of our new House of Studies in Milwaukee! This beautiful house, formerly the residence of the Capuchin Franciscan Friars, will soon be a home for up to 12 resident scholars, continuing the good work of education, the first of its kind in the state of Wisconsin.
The preparation of the house has been a collaborative effort, with Fr. Zach and the dedicated volunteers from the Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) working tirelessly to ensure a warm and welcoming environment for our incoming residents. Christa Pipitone has taken the lead in furnishing the rooms, transforming the space into a comfortable and inviting home. Thrive For Life also extends its heartfelt gratitude to Monica Meagher, Peter Kelly, Melita Biese, and other members of the IVC for their invaluable support in navigating permits and overseeing onsite renovations.
In addition to the impending launch of the house, Thrive For Life has also begun conducting retreats behind the walls at Racine Correctional Facility, thanks to the unwavering support of Prof. Wendy Volz-Daniels who each month has been accompanying Fr. Zach offers quality, meditative resources for an examined life to our brothers behind the walls. These retreats provide a unique opportunity for incarcerated individuals to begin their discernment of purpose as they prepare to reenter free society.
