Congressman Torres Visits Abraham House!
Earlier this spring, Abraham House had the honor of hosting Congressman Ritchie Torres, who visited our community to learn more about our work to transform lives behind and beyond the prison walls. Congressman Torres and his team engaged with members of the Abraham House community including residents, staff, and volunteers to gain insights into our efforts to accompany our brothers on their journey to permanently and successfully reenter free society.
During the visit, Fr. Zach gave Congressman Torres a comprehensive tour of the facility, showcasing our programs and initiatives that Abraham House offers to help returning citizens who have begun their journey of education and transformation post-release. The congressman also had the chance to meet individually with some of our residents who shared their stories from behind to beyond the walls.
Following the tour, Fr. Zach and Congressman Torres engaged in a short dialogue about the work being done at Abraham House, discussing the need to support justice-impacted individuals as they reintegrate into society. Additionally, our team had the opportunity to explore ways to extend our reach in the community through our weekly food pantry and onsite education which both serve as critical services to the local justice-impacted community in one of the most highly affected congressional districts in the country.
We are extremely grateful for Congressman Torres taking the time to visit our community and learn more about our work to transform lives. As our mission continues to flourish, the support and collaboration of elected officials like Congressman Torres are invaluable in creating a community in which all can thrive for life.
