Supportive Social Services Coordinator Opening

Thrive for Life Prison Project seeks a Supportive Social Services Coordinator with expertise in parole procedures and a passion for our mission: to transform lives behind and beyond U.S. prison walls. We are looking for an adept professional who can work with our scholars’ individual needs and circumstances in order to best orient them as they return home into what is often a new and unfamiliar environment. Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of the re-entry landscape, including familiarity with the appropriate documentation and logistics concerning parole, probation, and social services.

Position Description:

A successful Supportive Social Services Coordinator will ideally have experience as a social worker and/or an LMSW, be highly empathetic, resourceful, a strong problem-solver. They will be excited to work with hardworking, motivated, driven students who were formerly incarcerated. They should work naturally within a team environment, as well as possess the ability to work with little supervision as needed. 

The Coordinator should also be able to tailor their services to the individual needs of our scholars in order to determine which benefits and documentation are required in accordance with that person’s unique circumstances.


The Supportive Services Coordinator primary responsibilities are to:

 

• Accompany individuals transitioning out of incarceration and formerly incarcerated individuals who are working to secure the following Documents / ID:

▪ Parole – Release Papers & Prison ID

▪ DMV – See documentation needed (points) for State ID

▪ Social Security Card

▪ HRA

▪ Proof of: Identity

• Work in collaboration with the lead Supportive Services Coordinator in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all onsite Supportive Services and Enrichment Activities.

Additional Responsibilities Include

• Being present for weekly Sunday night dinners with all resident scholars. *mandatory*

• Encouraging engagement in enrichment activities and community events at Ignacio House of Studies with the Thrive for Life team

Qualifications:

• Social worker with a minimum of 5 -7 years of experience

• Strong background working with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated population

• Highly empathetic and resourceful

• Strong writing and oral communications skills

• A “connector” who can see opportunities to support resident scholars of Ignacio House of Studies

• Strong organizational skills, attention to details, and ability to work independently

• Proven track record of working in a collaborative environment

• Entrepreneurial, strategic, and people oriented

• Demonstrated ability in planning and reporting

• Ability to use Google Docs, Word, Excel, Salesforce, and PowerPoint /reporting tools

 

Key Performance Indicators:

• Provide weekly case management reports on resident scholars to the lead Supportive Services Coordinator and Executive Director

 

Salary

Salary will be paid on a monthly basis is commensurate with experience.
