Celebrating Holy Week with Our Brothers at Rikers Island and Cardinal Dolan!

This past month, our community came together to commemorate Holy Wednesday, marking an important moment during Holy Week. This year, we were fortunate to celebrate this event alongside our brothers at Rikers Island. Our collaboration aimed to foster a sense of unity, redemption, and transformation for all participants, regardless of the circumstances that brought them there.

Fr. Zach and the Thrive For Life team were honored to have His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal M. Dolan, join the celebration. Cardinal Dolan presided over the Mass and took time to personally meet with each of our brothers behind the walls. In his heartfelt homily, he emphasized the power of redemption and salvation, urging us all to come together as a human family. Cardinal Dolan's message served as a reminder of our collective commitment to transforming lives, both within and beyond the confines of the prison system.

During this special gathering, we also took the opportunity to celebrate the vocation of Sr. Margaret McCabe. As one of the dedicated Catholic Chaplains at Rikers, Sr. Margaret has devoted over three and a half decades of her life to ministering to our brothers and sisters within the prison. Her unwavering commitment has undoubtedly touched countless lives and provided spiritual guidance during their most challenging times.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to His Eminence, the Catholic Chaplaincy, the New York City Department of Correction, and our brothers behind the walls for making this extraordinary celebration possible. As we ring in the season of new life this Easter, let us remember the importance of unity, forgiveness, and personal growth in our ongoing journey towards redemption and transformation.
