Celebrating Black History Month 2022
This past Tuesday marked the beginning of Black History Month in the United States and several countries around the globe. Throughout the month, we honor the legacy of African American leaders, activists, artists, and community members and all their contributions to our society. Importantly, we take this month as an opportunity to celebrate African American history and culture while also remembering the tragic legacy of injustice and inequality that sadly still pervades our human family.
As we begin this year’s celebration, we at Thrive For Life strongly encourage our friends and supporters to take active steps to learn more about African American history and their contributions to our society at large. Take the time to support Black-owned businesses and restaurants, see artwork and films produced by Black artists, or read literature covering the history and experiences of African Americans in the United States. In particular, Thrive For Life takes this opportunity to commend and honor African American leaders who have taken a strong stand to reform the criminal justice system that too often is plagued by injustice and inequality.
His recent documentary explores the racial history of the criminal justice system with particular focus on the Jim Crow South. Through candid interviews with associates, close family members, and clients, True Justice provides an important look into the human struggles of predominantly poor and minority persons who are wrongly convicted or unfairly sentenced.
