Brand New Retreat for Families Affected by Incarceration!

Thrive For Life is excited to announce the second of our upcoming retreats for families impacted by incarceration! In collaboration with Catholic Charities Brooklyn Queens, our spiritual care team will meet and pray with families who have loved ones behind the walls and who themselves may have experienced incarceration. We are incredibly grateful to the parish family at Resurrection-Ascension Church in Rego Park, New York who have generously offered to provide the venue for our retreat. Celebration of the Holy Eucharist and dinner will follow.

Over the last several months, Pablo Jimenez, our Spiritual Care Coordinator, has worked hard to forge relationships with parishes and faith communities throughout the Diocese of Brooklyn. The first of our retreats will happen later this month on March 20 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Queens. Since the closure of the prisons and jails to most volunteers due to the pandemic, we have been unable to host our regular retreats for folks behind the walls. While we hope to return to this important ministry too, we are incredibly excited to accompany those affected by incarceration beyond the walls and their loved ones.

Thrive For Life aims to expand the availability of care for the incarcerated, to accompany their families and friends, and to mobilize faith community partners to share in its mission. The liaison for this partnership is Pablo (pjimenez@thriveforlife.org), who will be in touch with the parishes for the promotion and organization of the retreat.

Please stay tuned for forthcoming registration information! If you or someone you know would be interested, please reach out to Pablo at the email listed above!
